Social impact coaching is inspired by the belief that we have exactly what we need to make the change we seek in the world.

“The goal of social impact coaching is to support individuals and organizations committed to building a more just and equitable world by helping them identify, own, and leverage their strengths to become more effective in their work.”

Marta Hanson, Founder & Principal, Social Impact Coaching & Consulting

Social impact coaching lies at the intersection of strengths-based development and social change.

  • Why strengths?

Strengths-based development shifts the paradigm of excellence by focusing on what’s right with people—their natural talents. According to research by Gallup, people who use their strengths daily are six times more likely to be engaged at work, and teams that focus on their strengths are 12.5% more productive.

Strengths-based leadership builds on the CliftonStrengths assessment (formerly StrengthsFinder), which reveals natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. It is based on 50+ years of research by Gallup and has been taken by over 30 million people worldwide.

  • Why justice & equity?

In a socially just world, every individual is treated with dignity and respect. Movements for social justice, which are incredibly broad and multifaceted, challenge intersecting systems of power and oppression and work to ensure that all people have the opportunity to live a full and healthy life.

This work is grounded in hope and guided by deep love and the belief that, collectively, we can recognize and celebrate each others’ humanity, ensure communities have what they need to thrive, and help make the world a more just, inclusive, and equitable place for all.

Imagine if every individual and organization working to make the world a better place could increase their effectiveness, engagement, and impact.

That's where social impact coaching comes in.
